• I measured the distance from the tip of the left leg to the tip of the right leg at 36 1/2 inches, so no it will not fit on a 36-inch desk.

• Yes it can, HOWEVER, when you install the stand/feet, put them on facing inwards, instead of outwards as shown in photo & instructions.
