WiFi is needed for the internet, this smart TV has a network searcher and scanner for all your WiFi connections, HOWEVER this smart TV works just FINE without a WiFi internet connection, just screw on a digital antenna and you'll get all your local channels,but you need that antenna or a cable cord connected to the tv or you won't get anything at all, but I think if you get that internet connection you'll have thousands of free or subscribe movies, live TV, tv shows, prime time, sports everything, plus Roku adds on thousands of free apps every update so you could stream everything you want or need, oh yeah you can hook your Blu-ray or DVD player up to the HDMI plus you get 2 HDMI connections on this TCL 55" smart TV!
