A:AnswerThe TCL Roku TVs are specifically designed to be used with the TCL Roku remote that comes with it. However, you can download the free Roku app on your smart phone or tablet to use with your TCL Roku TV. By using the app you can use voice search, voice control, and experience private listening. In addition, you will also gain access to more settings and Smart features. Hope this helps! Thank you, TCL Customer Support
A:AnswerThere is no difference. The 55s515 and 55s517 are the same TV except for the remote control. The 515 uses infrared so it must be pointed towards the infrared detector in the center of the lower bezel. The 517 remote uses Radio Frequency and so it can be pointed in any direction to function. Because the remote for the 517 uses RF it also has a 3.5mm headphone jack built into the remote. This would not be practical with a remote that must be pointed at or near a specific spot on the TV.
