“I use Directtv service. Can you still use the included remote, or only the Directtv remote”

You will need to use the direct TV remote. You will need the remote that comes with the tv to access the apps and menu features.

Many Universal and cable box remotes can be programmed to control select features on the TV. You can visit https://support.tclusa.com/tv-remote-codes for more information.
