A:Answer Yes, this deck can be a replacement for those components. It's decent, but to be honest the CD players and cassette decks of today are not the same quality of the older units you would have owned in the 1990's and before. For one they offer less features, such as Dolby noise reduction (which is no longer available) or auto-reverse on the cassette. Build quality of the CD and tape mechanisms are not up to the standard you would have been accustomed to with the older units and this can sometimes result in skipping CDs (especially with home recorded discs) or tape speed inaccuracies. Also output specs, particularly with the cassette (frequency range, etc), are relatively basic compared to the older decks. This unit will connect to your existing receiver with RCA type line level inputs.
