At this point, it's unfortunately because they genuinely don't care about their actual customers. The whole scalper bots garbage has been going on for over a decade at this point. We know eBay enjoys the profit off of it, and will never take a second to ban pretty much every listing up right now (especially the jerks who pick up multiple); so somewhere in there is a profit motive. Honestly it's probably something as insulting as their betting that the hundreds of thousands to millions fighting against instant "buyers" will buy something else from whichever site just lets it happen time and time again. Captcha would at least be something. But nah, we're $$$ to them, nothing more.
