“When it says the game is for Series X, is it ONLY for series X? Will it work on series S as well? Also, I don't see the standard game as a digital download. Is it available in that format?”

Since you have a(n) Xbox Series S (All digital console) you can only purchase the game via Microsoft Store. As of now, their isn’t a digital download code to purchase MLB The Show 21 on Best Buy at the moment.
