The system will turn on and off with the car if you use the 12V cigarette lighter adapter (included in box). They also give you a hardwire kit to draw power from your fuses, that will allow you to use the parking feature (also included in box). Most people will use an OBD adapter for this, which is cleaner and easier, found on Thinkware's site.

However, if you are using an OBD II cable or Hardwire cable and you have parking mode enabled then the camera will go into standby and parking mode, rather than turn itself off. You can enable motion detection in your dashcam settings as long as you have a hardwire or OBD cable to make the parking mode function. Thank you!
