• Dear customer, Thanks a lot for your question. No, you are not using this machine to do some cleaning job on any carpeted surfaces. • It can vacuum carpets and do some surface cleaning at the same time but it isn’t going to vacuum a carpet as well as a regular vacuum does. I use it to vacuum and wash surface of my area rugs but for a thorough cleaning I would use washing machine or carpet cleaner for large area rugs to do a proper job.

• No, I've gone over my area rugs and it didn't do well. Works awesome on floors for dog hair.
