Tivo Lifetime subscription comes with the unit. You do have to for the main TiVo box this connects to though
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. As long as you have a retail TiVo compatible with TiVo mini, and the main TiVo box has an active subscription, you don't pay monthly service fees for this box
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The TiVo Mini can only be used as an extension to a primary TiVo device. So even though the Mini doesn't require a monthly subscription, it won't work unless you already have a TiVo with an active subscription on it. I don't know what the limit is, but you can connect multiple Minis to a single TiVo box (mine's a Romio), essentially extending your TiVo's capability to multiple other rooms in the house. Two things to note: 1. Set-up isn't simply plug-n-play. You need to perform networking tasks to get it working with your main TiVo box. I wired mine as a MoCA network using my existing coaxial wires, which wasn't simple but it took my WiFi out of the equation. 2. You DO need to activate the Mini through TiVo's website, which will be worded as if charging you, but the charge is $0 and you don't need to enter any payment data. Hope this helps!

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.TiVo does have a service fee that can be paid either month-to-month, or, on a one-time basis called "Lifetime service." The cost varies depending on commitment/no-commitment, and type of TiVo DVR unit (ota, or cable card). https://support.tivo.com/articles/Essential_Summary/TiVo-Payment-Plans-and-Policies I prefer to buy the TiVo DVR and the Lifetime service. Its most cost efficient, in my opinion, is to pay for the lifetime service and hold onto the unit well past the break-even point, then you begin to realize savings versus the monthly plan. Have several TiVo DVRs and it is by far the best multi-room and remote TV viewing system for non-technical people.
