When you purchase this particular TIVO Roamio Pro from Best Buy it comes with 1 year of service direct from TV. From what I've read on some online forums, once your year is coming due TIVO will likely offer the option to purhcase a Lifetime subscription. Sometimes, these subscriptions are heavily discounted but it's a matter of timing and catching a promotion at the right time.
