The process is in the instruction. You have a choice to copy everything or just the OS only or select what you want to back up on your new HD. Very simple to do.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Google "free cloning software" and download a copy. You didn't mention what OS you are using, but there are quite a few options for Windows that work well and are user-friendly. Follow their instruction and you will have no problem. see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_disk_cloning_software
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I use Acronis True Image, but there are other ones out there that work too. There is a function in the program to clone your old drive onto the new. It doesn't matter if you are going from a small one to a larger. You may have to select a "proportional" size if you have multiple drives inside a single hard drive. I do this regularly in case my old drive dies. All I would need to do is pull out the old, throw it away, and plug in my new. The computer doesn't know anything is different.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.you could do a 'clone' aspect or using original discs do a clean install, which is way better. Save your data and other items to external thumb drives as desired. Make sure you have the Utility discs/drivers discs that came with your unit Highly recommend you do a Belarc Advisor.org printout which will reflect all about your unit--is a great aid.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.look for copy hard drive software on the net. You can and should be able to get this for free. however if your drive is fried you will not be able to copy it. YOu need to reformat a new drive nd restore from backup,
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. What I did was plug both HD's into my IMac and use Adobe Bridge to move my folders or copy them to the new HD.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You can use a few different programs. I have used mini tool partition wizard, r-drive image, and Acronis disc director. If you look on-line you can get free trial versions of some of these programs. If this is something you don't do often a trial version will do this job for you. When I did mine I also bought a second drive and made another disc image of my drive. If your drive fails and recovery programs can't recover it you lose everything. For $50 I bought a Toshiba 1tb drive and imaged mine. It is cheap protection against losing everything. The one I chose to show I think is the one I bought. I don't have mine in front of me but it was only $50 for a brand new hard drive with a longer warranty than the more expensive drives. 3 yrs as opposed to 2 yrs.
I would recommend:
