• The stands (legs) are labeled R (right) and L (left), you cannot install the TV stand in a different position. You can use a Universal TV Stand like the Model: NS-HTMS1

• I don't remember how clearly it's stated in the instruction manual (who reads those things anyway?!!), but there is definitely a left and right leg and they are keyed to fit only one way. What seems backwards is probably the correct way.
