The VESA Mounting pattern is 100 × 100 mm and the screws are M4 × 12 mm type (4 pcs).

Doing a quick conversion that's going to be 3.93701" x 3.93701, which is probably the 4" you're measuring. You should be good to go. Be wary of the depth of the bolts going into the TV. Not all depths are the same. If you are not sure. Screw them in by hand, making sure that the threads are correct. If they screw in easily, keep turning by hand until you run out of threads or the screw bottoms out. If the screw bottoms out without going in all the way, go buy new bolts with the same threads, but shorter. Or in a pinch you can use enough washers to make up the difference. In a motor installation, a lock washer might not be a bad idea. Especially because they are often mounted over the driver's head.
