Why is it that TV remotes have that "beef" flavor that attracts dogs? Been there before! Did you setup the smart phone connection for Chromecast? Maybe that would help. I've yet to use the Chromecast feature on this TV. I did setup the app/smartphone, just haven't used it. I'm thinking that showing Chromecast on the screen is just an input selection on the Toshiba and then you control it from the source , like your iPad or phone or computer, whatever you are "casting" from to select and start and stop, etc.. Volume and other controls should be part of the universal remote. If there is a part of the operation not covered by this, let me know please. I might learn something! I really only use Chromecast on an older TV that was not "smart" so we view Netflix on it via Chromecast from an iPad. Good Luck.
