How wide is the screen, knowing diagonally it is 42.5?? null

Well, I don't have this tv but using Pythagorean Theorem and assuming that the viewable area was 16:9 widescreen I came up with 37.04 (approx) inches. I wasn't confident that the widescreen ratio took up the entire screen (because sometimes when you play a widescreen movie there are black bars) so I measured my vizio tv and did a proportional equation where my diagonal equals this tv's diagonal and my width equals "x". So, I came up with nearly the same answer of 37.06(approx) inches. So, short answer is approx 37 inches. But if you are trying to find out if a tv stand would be able to accommodate this tv you should bear in mind that you will have the tv casing to account for.
