• Does operate on WiFi but we use cable remote to record movies or shows.

• Unfortunately the Fire TV Edition TV has not Record feature. And the Operating System of the TV is Fire OS, you just need to connect the TV to internet to enjoy the Fire TV experience. Alan O. - Toshiba Support
