“How do I get the TV to automatically go back to HDMI1 when I turn it on? Sometimes it does it on its own and sometimes not. When it stays on the Home screen, I have to find the Toshiba remote and use it to go to HDMI1. My DISH channels are on HDMI1.”

Try the Power On feature, when enabled, your TV turns on displaying the last used input: go Home > Settings > Display & Sounds > Power On and select Last Input.
