“My internet is satellite and the speed isn’t fast enough for downloading. We have Direct TV, is there a way to connect this TV to Direct TV and not the internet?”

Yes, that is what we have. You just have to go the initial page and choose the icon with the three connectors on it. It says composite on the icon as well. This one allows you to view with our DVD player, VHS player and Direct TV as well. If you just want the Direct TV and have the HDMI cord, then select that icon.
