“My TV won't power on. When I plug it in the red light comes on so it is getting power. When I push the "on" button the red light goes off but the screen remain dark and no sound. Some sources said to turn off for 3 minutes and restart. Does not work.”

Try doing that when the room is completley dark...if screen comes on (which you'll see a faint light) then you screen lamp is out!!
