By my understanding, you can only pair the remote to one TV at a time and that might be why you experienced these issues. Try getting into contact with the Best Buy where you purchased the TV; the same happened to me with an Open Box purchase and the store was able to go through the manufacturer to purchase the correct Toshiba-branded Fire Edition TV remote. They're hard to find online, unfortunately, and regular replacement remotes for Fire TV do not work with these sets.
