“does it matter if i use HDMI 1 or HDMI2 on my tv. tv is 2160 but shows up on settings as 1080. have dish as provider. do not have any devices connected to tv such as dvd or blue ray.”

The Fire TV Edition television supports 4K. You need to have access to 4K enabled content and while playing a video that supports 4K, using the included Voice Remote, press and hold the Home button for 3 seconds to display the Quick Access menu, select Info to see the resolution of the video that's playing.
