“Has com anyone been able to figure out how to make the tv default to HDMI1 on boot up? It always goes back to the firetv menu and then u have to switch remotes just to put it to HDMI1 and then put that remote away just to watch cable”

Under settings/Display and Sounds/Power on, set to 'Recent row'. It will turn on to whatever source you were using last time.
