• If you have a mantle you'll not have a problem as mine is over fireplace as well. Heat will deflect under the mantle and will dissipate proportionately.

• Bad idea to mount any TV above a fireplace - unless there's a substantial mantle in place to deflect/disperse the heat - or you plan on having a fan ALWAYS ready to blow beneath the TV to vent the heat - otherwise the fireplace heat will melt the TV (insert frowny face here)
