This drive will work in your computer, but it is smaller than the original drive (500 vs 640). If the smaller drive will not give you the storage you need, for $20 more you can double the size to 1 TB. See below.

It uses SATA II hard drives and this is a SATA II, not SATA III drive (it's mislabeled on the website as SATA III). SATA II (3.0Gb/s transfer speed) is also backwards compatible for SATA I (1.5Gb/s data transfer speed). SATA III's (6.0Gb/s) are backwards compatible with SATA II's.
