From my experience, your TV will display a 1080p picture if it receives that signal. My TV automatically adjust to the channel signal the cable provides.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.TOSHIBA's famously do it AUTOMATICALLY! If your "source" is 480p - that's what resolution standard DVDs are displayed in along with non HD TV channels, etc. I can ONLY add just make sure your PICTURE SIZE IS SET TO: "NATIVE" Very, very simple: Press "PIC SIZE" on your remote repeatedly until you reach NATIVE. If you're only getting 480p, it has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH YOUR TOSHIBA TV, it's the SOURCE!!!! THIS APPLIES TO ALL TV's (period!).
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The TV is able to support 1080p, however the device that is sending the video signal controls the resolution. For example, you have to tell your cable box that you want it to output at 1080p, otherwise it will not change.
