You can use it as a regular TV for over the air tv channels or use the HDMI inputs if you don't care about the Chromecast Features. It's a different kind of smart tv and chromecast is not for everyone. You must use a digital device to set up and control the chromecast (Smart) Feature of the TV. When you install Netflix on it, you must use your iPhone for example, to tell it what videos to play. It doesn't stream netflix from your phone, but tells the tv what URL to load. Also if you use a computer with Google Chrome on it, you can install the google chromecast add on to it to mirror the entire screen (or just the browser window) to the TV. It works very nice, but is not your everyday Smart TV. I would like to see Google develop the chromecast further to run via an on screen interface, but for what it is now, it works very well.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You don't have to use it. The advantage is that you aren't tied to a particular platform - your phone will always control it.
