USB 2.0 & 3.0 compatible... if you have a free USB port, should be good to go. Chrome OS may have some quirks regarding some of the pre-loaded features, but would operate the same as a storage device.

Since Google states that Chromebooks and the Chrome OS do support USB storage devices (https://support.google.com/chromebook/answer/183093) this would be expected to work fine. You may want to also check with Acer to be sure that your specific Chromebook model has no limitations that would prevent it from working with a USB mass storage device.
