is this compatiable with Windows Vista? I have an old computer that I want to replace, but first I want to move photos and videos off of it before I either buy a new one or see if it can be corrected.

Yes, You can format it for any OS. If it didn't recognize the USB 3.0 in the USB 2.0 you may need to install the driver (easy install).

If your PC has a USB port, it will work on Vista. Works on my wife's with no problem at all. You don't have the speed of 3.0. But, it will work.
