I just used it edit a documentary at 720P, 30fps on AVID. I believe the compression was DNXHD75. I also used the same video with After Effects. I had no issues. USB 3 is fast enough as a sending format for regular HD video. The limiting factor would be the drive. Usually, you want a drive with 7200RPMS. If you don't, then you may sometimes run into issues where the video stalls. But in this case, I edited for a week and had no issues.
