Yes the Solid State Disk drive is easily accessible by removing 10 screws holding the whole back panel on. You must then carefully pry the cover off. The mSATA solid state disk drive is held on by only one screw. For my needs 128 GB is more than enough space and if I needed more I would use an external disk drive through the USB ports. The included SSD is fast. I was very disappointed though that the DDR3L RAM is too hard to get to. It is hidden by some internal boards that I did not want to risk removing. Too bad because 8 GB of DDR3L RAM can be purchased for only $40 and would make this machine much faster. I may take the risk after I remove all of the bloatware.
