how do I change the time on my home screen null

I am totally no expert, but, I've noticed if a phone is not activated it will not reset it's own time. Once activated as soon as you fire it up the clock automatically sets itself. Also The ones I've got if you pull the battery then slap it in at midnight straight up it will take off at that time. As far as manual adjustment of the time, good luck I've found no way to do that.
