Hi Sash, If your modem is also a modem + Wi-Fi router combination gateway, it is recommended that you set the modem to "bridge" or "passthrough" mode so it acts only as a modem, allowing the Deco to perform the role of the router in your home network. You can simply connect the main Deco to your existing modem via Ethernet and use the Deco app to conveniently set up your Mesh Wi-Fi system.
