• You need to subscribe to an internet provider in order to use it. Mesh systems are updated routers which are used for in home Wi-Fi. You plug the TP Link into the modem

• You need access to an internet provider yes but to my knowledge there is no need to subscribe to a "wi-fi" company. The TP-Link product connects to the internet via the router you have connected to your internet provider.
