Deco M9 Plus covers your entire home with high-speed mesh Wi-Fi no matter its size or shape. It uses powerful tri-band AC2200 Wi-Fi with TP-Link Mesh technology to deliver strong Wi-Fi everywhere and keep up to 100 devices running at top speed.
With built-in ZigBee and Bluetooth technology, Deco M9 Plus even replaces most smart hubs and lets you directly connect and control your favorite smart devices from the Deco app. It also supports Alexa for easy voice control.
A: The system requires a cable modem. The TP-LINK replaces the router. However, there is an advanced setting that allows the use of a router and the TP-Link as an extender. I opted to replace the router with the TP-Link and I’ve been satisfied.
Q: Will the Deco m9 work with an Xfinity modem/router as wifi extender?
A: Yes. I ended up returning the deco m9 due to the manufacturers warning of reduced performance if they are wall or ceiling mounted. However, I did successfully connect them to my Xfinity modem/router and test them out. I have a 300mbs plan and I was consistently getting between 290 and 320 when I tested. Hope you found this helpful.
A: Any of the devices can work as router. Just pick one and place it as router. The app will guide the installation very easily.
A: We just installed for home close to 4000 sq ft. It was placed centrally and one in the trouble spot FROG. Coverage now extends outside garage for cameras.
A: I have a 2-floor home that has kind of a long and skinny layout. It's about 2000 sq. ft, but nowhere near that is actually usable space. I started with the two pack -- one downstairs and one upstairs, and ended up adding a third to boost the signal at one end of the house. That probably wasn't 100% necessary, but now the whole house is covered and some of the backyard too. I've set up countless routers & wi-fi networks over the years. This was hands down the easiest install I've ever had and the performance has been excellent. I upgraded our internet plan back in March because with everyone doing virtual learning and online meetings, we needed more bandwidth. There was some improvement with my previous router, which was about 3 years old. When I installed the Deco, the bandwidth available more than doubled. My only complaint is that there is no wall mounting option, so you have to be a bit creative if you'd rather have this on the wall than on a shelf/table top. If you've had your router for a long time, my guess is that you'll see a big jump in performance and be quite happy.
Q: Do these come with the cords to plug them in?
A: Not sure if you mean power or something else, but yes they come with power cords which is the only thing you need to plug in other than one unit connected to your modem via Ethernet (also included, albeit pretty short) which is standard for ANY router. The whole point of a mesh system is so you do NOT need to connect wires to each unit. Each unit has 2 Ethernet ports and one of those will need to be used to connect to your modem. The rest can be used to connect wired devices
Q: is tp link m5 and m9 combatable
A: Yes all Tp-links are compatible all you have to do is add the m9 to your existing m5 and then reassign the m9 to be the master deco unit.
A: They connect with WiFi and don't need the same electrical system. Maximum distance apart depends heavily on what's in between (walls, bricks, trees, etc. etc., and only some on linear distance. It's very hard to predict what will work, but you probably can connect to 80 feet away, but you may need to spend time moving around the two units to get the best signal.
