For this feature selection, parameters for how long to record after motion stops can be customized via the Kasa app. However, a subscription is not required for local storage via 24/7 rolling recording with a Micro SD card (not included). The local storage, 24/7 recording option will still notate motion or activity events in the recording timeline, which can be conveniently viewed via the Kasa app.

Motion detection events clips are about 5minutes long, although you can scan before or after the event as motion detection only occurs during the scheduled recording period. I use a 128gig card with my K401 camera and schedule the recording for only late night to morning (about 10 hrs of recording). After a full week of recording I still have about 30 gig left on the card before I reformatted the card to reuse. I use roughly a little less than 1 gig of memory an hour, but that’s without recording sound. If you intend to record 24/7 with sound, then a 128gig card should last you a few days before it gets full. It’s also quite easy to follow the steps to reformatting the card while it’s in the camera so it can continue record for you.
