I used Wi-Fi to setup the camera. The SD card is only for storage. Cloud storage is expensive so the card is a money saver. The notification uses Wi-Fi. The app that comes with the device gives you video viewing options. It’s nice to monitor when you are away from home. Distinguishes sound and person detection. Great gadget to have.

However, once configured, if the camera loses Wi-Fi connection, it will continue to record to the SD card - if it is configured for 24/7 recording and a Micro SD card is installed in the camera.
