• Its only works with 2.4Ghz band wifi. You 5Ghz router may transmit both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz. The 2.4Ghz band is better for smart devices. Smart devices don't require the additional seed of the 5Ghz band and the 2.4Ghz band penetrates walls better.

• I have not found any that use 5gHz band. Most home routers are capable of receiving/transmitting on both 2.4 and 5 bands, however (configured in the router setup). You can set up the device using a cell phone or tablet while connected on the 2.4 band. Once done, you can reconnect your phone or tablet to the 5gHz band. Your phone or tablet can still control the devices via the router on wifi or via cellular data while away.
