Smart plugs operate by allowing or restricting the flow of electricity to an appliance that would normally be plugged into a power outlet. As such, we suggest using appliances that support turning on as soon as they are plugged into a power outlet. Please ensure the appliance in use does not exceed the smart plug's electrical load rating. Our smart plugs do support Alexa/Echo integration, so you can conveniently control the smart plug using your voice. Regards, TP-Link Support

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This will allow you to turn on and off most devices (smart or not). I've found that the device must have a mechanical switch that stays in the on position (like a lamp; you leave the switch on and turn the lamp on and off using the Kasa app or Alexa). I haven't been able to get devices that have electronic switches to turn on using the smart switch.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes the smart plug in works with anything you plug into it. You just download the app follow the instructions and bam it works. I have my 20.00 walmart hanging light plugged into it. I can even use my echo show to control it.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It can control anything that is connected to an electrical outlet, except ceiling fans. You place the smart plug to a wall electrical outlet and program it on their website. Command it with echo or dot and you can control a lamp connected to that outlet. I use it for lamps and stand fans.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes it is rated to control small appliances. Ceiling Fans not so much as I am not aware of ceiling fans that plug into a wall socket. Be careful there is a "Lite" version of this plug which is only rated to control lights.
