It controls when power is given to the connected device. If you have a device that say unplug after each use these plugs are great. I have Alexa disable power to my air fryer and instant pot after each use.

You can set schedules like a conventional lamp timer. You can turn your lamps on from your car so you don’t have to enter a dark house you can group several Kasa products in the app to turn several on off at the same time. This is very useful for holiday displays. Kasa makes several types of these products.
