“I have Google Home on my Android phone. Will that alone work to device for just on and off? or dose that require going through a router? I would plan to use the device too fat from a router and it is 5mhz”

Doesn't need a "hub" or any other device to work with Google Home, Alexa and Apple HomeKit.
