“It says WiFi and wireless....i see photos with a chord in them. Does it need to be plugged in to work. If the chord is just for charging how long does the battery last?”

No battery, the cord gets plugged into a standard outlet - that's what provides power to the camera. Good instructions, setup is very easy (even I was able to do it). With Kasa cams, I can use my phone to do a quick check on my dogs and verify that the garage door is closed, with the correct number of cars IN the garage.
