• Just plug it in the wall no extras needed. The range is not great at all

• Just plug it into the wall socket and do the setup. No ethernet needed. I don't know about the range but it is getting signal from my bedroom to the sprinkler controller on the outside wall.

• Before plugging device in any outlet, you FIRST plug it near your router when setting it, that way it will be sure to link with your router THEN plug it anywhere where needed, not sure how far the range is but it works perfectly for me, I haven't tried going to the garage

• It is made for wireless connection, but using the ethernet cord works better. I am not sure about the range, I think it depends on your wifi signal.
