This device lets you use the electrical wiring in your house in place of a wired network. A wifi extender/repeater boosts your wifi signal strength at the other edges of the envelope to allow you to use your wifi beyond it's natural envelope. I bought this product because I moved to a warm place for the winter and needed a wired connection to plug my internet phone into and the unit I was renting only had wifi.
