You need to check to make sure the Arris router says it can handle a mesh network. My xFinity router does not, so this extender cannot operate as mesh and becomes a separate network with a new name. (The product description says "Create a mesh network that only needs one name and password by pairing RE505X with a TP-Link Mesh router.") When operating separately I do not get the extension of my wifi signal that I was hoping for.
