• You're thinking of how Cable/DSL/etc companies charge you a rental fee monthly? If so, those are usually combo devices: Modem & Router. This device is a router only. You'll still either need to use their combo modem/router and then connect this router to one of the LAN ports on the combo device. Most routers come with a visual manual to help make it easier. There's also usually an install wizard that walks you through the process from a web browser. That or you're talking about putting the purchase on a credit card? This is a product you purchase once. How you purchase is up to you. =)

• when you purchase your router it's yours the only service you have to pay is your internet provider - spectrum hope this helps
