• No you need to establish a service plane with phone data and service card first. Then you can add more data if you use it up as those plans do not have much data service. Basically you need a phone number for the phone first.

• Yes. Absolutely. Just purchased one through the Best Buy online app using my rewards points from previous purchases and got the virtual card with pin number to activate and complete the data add-on. Fast simple and the extra data was there to use within seconds. Never had to leave home and didn't have to go without the service with the add-on data.
