• Yes, the right bud is capable of functioning independently. It's the same shape as the left bud, so you could put it in either ear.

• Yes! You only "need" one ear bud- the "right" one. The left slaves off the right and links to it without Bluetooth. There is negligible lag, too, so you can easily watch a mover etc...
