QuestionWhy do Total Members have to pay the $249 to install TVs as of Dec 2023? My membership just renewed in Dec, and when I went to purchase a 77" Samsung TV it was going to cost $249 for Mounting/Installation and $59 for moving/carry-away of my old TV.

- Answer Best Buy was losing too much money on these installations mostly through people who were abusing the service, having multiple TVs installed at commercial sites like bars and restaurants, etc. But instead of modifying the program the simply removed this benefit/service from their Total program which is unfortunate. They should have been more creative here and done something like limit the number of TV installations per customer per year to two or something. Or, instead of making it free why not discount the installation price by 50% for Total members? Because of these and other changes I'm finding the Total membership less and less valuable each year and likely to cancel at my next renewal.

QuestionI have a 10 year old Sony 55” tv. I have been seeing a green coloration in the center of the screen. It is apparent when a yellow item fades from yellow to green at that spot. Is this something that is repairable?

- Answer Nobody really fixes TVs anymore. It would cost you more to have it fixed (if you can find someone) than to buy a new one; they're a lot better and cheaper than they were 10 years ago anyway. I just trashed my 20-year-old 45" LED Phillips that finally stopped working, and got a gorgeous huge OLED for about what I originally paid for the old one. Cheers and good luck!

QuestionI had a tv installed today in the afternoon. The team consulted with me about the height and I was initially content with the decision. However, tv is tilted to one side and I now feel it’s too high. Will they charge me full price again to correct this?

- Answer They told me if there were any issues with the installation, height, or something else to call them back free of charge. There is a time limit. Call and work with them or better yet go to the store, they want. their customers happy.

- Answer I had to check my TV accessories and it was included but I wouldn’t assume and have one on hand. I returned all my extras like 12’ cord and wire hiding piping kit. The wire was so small it was hardly noticeable on my brand.

- Answer Yes, it can be done and yes there is an additional cost. Use the online form to set up the install and a drop box will show you the additional cost (dry wall mount or stone/brick mount)

QuestionWould you move/reposition wired speakers currently on the wall if we like to hang a 75" tv? Currently our 65" tv is on a stand with wired speakers on the wall but to make room to hang a larger TV the wired speakers would need to be repositioned.

- Answer DEPENDS ON HOW FAR SPEAKERS ARE FROM YOUR CURRENT TV IF ITS RIGHT BESIDE THAN OF COURSE YOU WILL, BIGGER TV TAKES MORE SPACE. TV MAY TAKE UP SPACE WHERE SPEAKERS ARE. WHETHER TV ON STAND OR WALL...ITS A BIGGER TV AN WILL B LONGER

- Answer You've GOT to mount it to the wood studs under the drywall, NOT the drywall itself. Otherwise you WILL have a disaster on your hands at some point, even if you manage to get it to stay up there for now. If your house is less than 50 years old, the studs should be reliably 18" apart. Get yourself a stud finder at Home Depot or whatever; they're inexpensive and will help you locate where to screw in your mounting plate. If the mount doesn't reach the studs on each side, you can put up a piece of plywood, screw IT into the studs as securely as you can, and then screw the mount into the plywood.

QuestionI have cables that are run behind the wall on my existing mount. Since I am thinking of installing a bigger tv 85 inches from a 65 inch, i need the tv mount lowered, would you all run new cables through the wall a well if longer cables are required?

- Answer I moved from a 60" plasma to a new 65" QLED. The connections nowadays are more near the bottom of the back versus the middle or top, so the position of the connectors on the wall now may work just fine.
