The extenders do not have LAN ports. They merely plug into an AC outlet on your wall. If you already have CAT5 running into the apartment over the garage, and you already own this AmplifiHD system, you can buy another AmplifiHD base unit (just the base unit, not the extenders) and use that in the apartment. The extra base can be configured as an ethernet backbone and will extend your mesh network into the apartment.
